The Penti II was an upgraded model from the original Penti with a new body, lens, and adding a coupled selenium cell light meter. These cameras have a trademark gold front and rear plate along with a gold trimmed Meyer-Optik Domiplan lens. The middle part of the body came in a variety of colors like black, white, teal, and even pink.

Pentis are 18 x 24mm, half frame, cameras on 35mm film. This implies that "portrait" mode is what you get with the camera in the horizontal position. In 1961 the Penti II was introduced by Pentacon 's predecessor VEB Kinowerke. This version made it a real classic, combining the uniquely designed full featured viewfinder camera with viewfinder-controlled coupled match-needle selenium meter. It was produced until 1977. The Penti I was similar to the II, but without the meter.

The Welta Penti II is a fun camera, mine is gold color. It uses SL film, which is regular 35mm film in a special canister that looks and feels the same as the Agfa Rapid caniters. It produces half frame images, vertical images of 18mm by 24mm. The Penti II has a meter, but good luck finding one that still work. Anyways, you have full manual.
